A religious procession with the icon of St. Mary Magdalene will take place within the Turov Diocese from May 8th to 10th

April 23, Gomel / Tatiana Bolgova - BELTA /. A religious procession with the icon of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene will take place in the Turov diocese on May 8-10, the diocese informed a BELTA correspondent. The procession will be held with the blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk, and the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine. It will begin on May 6 from the Berdiansk diocese and then its route will pass through the city of Zolotonosha (Zolotonosha Convent, Cherkasy diocese), the Chernihiv diocese (May 7-8), Turov (May 8-10), and Vitebsk (May 10). On May 11, the icon of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene will arrive at the Polotsk Holy Euphrosyne Convent, where it is planned to be left for permanent residence. The Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene, one of the myrrh-bearing women, was the first person to see the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. From her youth, she suffered from a severe ailment - demon possession. Through Mary Magdalene's illness, the glory of God was revealed, and she herself acquired the great virtue of complete trust in God's will and unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ. When the Lord cast out seven demons from her, she left everything and followed Him. Serving the Lord during His earthly life, she wished to serve Him even after His death. The Risen Christ sent Holy Mary with a message from Him to the disciples, and the blessed woman, rejoicing, announced to the apostles what she had seen - "Christ is Risen!". Saint Mary was buried in Ephesus. In the 9th century, the incorrupt relics of the saint were transferred from Ephesus to Constantinople. It is believed that during the Crusades they were taken to Rome, where they rested in the church named after Saint John Lateran. Parts of the holy relics of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene are kept in the monasteries of Mount Athos and in Jerusalem. -0-
