Round table and signing of an agreement: events dedicated to the International Day of the Nurse are taking place in Polotsk
The program is extensive. The visit to the Museum-Apartment of Hero of the Soviet Union Zinaida Tusnolobova-Marchenko is not included in it by chance. In 1965, our renowned countrywoman received the Florence Nightingale Medal – the highest award given to nurses by the International Red Cross for exceptional courage and selflessness shown in peacetime or wartime.
During the round table, organized at the Polotsk State Medical College named after Hero of the Soviet Union Z. Tusnolobova-Marchenko, participants exchanged work experience in providing assistance to various population groups, spoke about the difficulties they face, and recalled the history of the establishment of the community of sisters of mercy in the Vitebsk region.
"Today's round table is another opportunity to pay tribute to those who fought for our bright future and peaceful skies, forged and helped forge Victory: generals and soldiers, partisans, home front workers, and, of course, doctors and nurses," noted Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. "Many of them have been awarded combat decorations, including the title of Hero of the Soviet Union; 46 nurses have received the special award of the International Red Cross – the Florence Nightingale Medal."
The work of nurses even in peacetime is also a feat, albeit a labor one, emphasized Vyacheslav Durnov. After all, as a result, people are freed from suffering, and vigor and well-being return to many.
An important milestone in the development of the "Dapamoga" service promises to be the agreement between the regional organization of the BRC and the Polotsk diocese, the signing of which took place within the framework of a round table.
- This is a very significant event, - said the Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross Dmitry Shevtsov. - We have something to help each other with.
He explained that the Red Cross is engaged in the gratuitous training of specialists capable of providing first aid and caring for seriously ill patients.
- We are ready to train the sisters of mercy of the Orthodox Church in this, - added Dmitry Shevtsov.
