A large batch of ammunition was neutralized in the Vitebsk region

July 8, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Almost 140 units of ammunition from the Great Patriotic War have been neutralized in the Vitebsk district, the information and public relations department of the regional Internal Affairs Directorate told a BELTA correspondent. The explosive items were discovered by servicemen of the 52nd specialized search battalion during work on the bank of the Luchesa River near the village of Myaklovo. Initially, the searchers came across a metal shell, similar to ammunition. Demining group specialists called to the scene surveyed the area. 128 artillery shells of various calibers from 45 mm to 152 mm, 6 mortar mines of 81 mm caliber, two grenades, including one RG-42, and two TM-35 anti-tank mines were brought to the surface. Most of the ammunition is of German production. Among the finds were also 19 artillery fuses. Presumably, a combat position of one of the military units was located at this place during the war. The demining group of military unit 5524 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs transported all the ammunition to a safe place and destroyed it. -0-
