Крупная партия контрабандных сигарет обнаружена в вагонах с углем на станции Полоцк

A large batch of smuggled cigarettes was discovered in coal wagons at the Polotsk station, a BELTA correspondent was informed by the Vitebsk Customs.

A wagon with coal, en route from Russia to the Latvian city of Ventspils, was delivered to the Polotsk station at the customs clearance point of the Novopolotsk Customs Post of the Vitebsk Customs. A little later, another wagon with coal, en route from Russia to Riga, arrived at the same station.

As a result of the customs inspection, it was established that in the open-top wagons of both trains, under the top layer of coal at a depth of 60-70 cm, cigarettes of six brands manufactured in the Republic of Belarus, marked with excise stamps of the Republic of Belarus, were concealed from customs control and not declared in the accompanying documents. The total number of cigarettes in both open-top wagons was 14,986 packs. The value of the contraband is estimated at Br70.8 million. In addition, a homemade communication device was found in one of the open-top wagons. The goods have been seized. An investigation is underway regarding this fact.
