A cultural and health center is being built in Liozno

The object "Reconstruction of the secondary school building into a cultural and recreational center in the urban-type settlement of Liozno" consists of two commissioning stages. Construction workers started the first stage in 2013. The building, erected in the late 1950s, which housed the school, children's and youth sports school, educational and production complex, and the central district library system in turn, had to be dismantled to the foundation because the interfloor ceilings and beams were made of wood.

- Financing is rhythmic. In 2013, 1.1 billion rubles were utilized here, in 2014 – 5.4 billion, last year – 8 billion, – says Igor Zaitsev, Deputy Chairman of the Liozno District Executive Committee for Construction and Housing and Communal Services. The heating system has already been launched in the new building. Currently, 18 finishing workers, electricians, and fitters, some of whom are local residents, are engaged in interior finishing, electrical installation, and the installation of ventilation and fire safety systems.

As Viktor Alensky, head of the construction and installation works section of the state enterprise "Vitebskobselstroy," explained, all this should be completed over the winter. External works are about 90 percent complete. In the spring, it will be necessary to repaint the facade, complete the roofing, and landscape the area around the building. The district libraries for adult and young readers, the House of Crafts with an exhibition hall will move here, and various clubs will operate. While the second stage of the cultural and recreational center is not yet ready – the building is yet to be constructed – part of the premises, about 200 sq. m, has been decided to be allocated to sports clubs. The second stage of the project includes a sports hall and a swimming pool. The completion of this facility is highly anticipated in Liozno, as the library collection is distributed across four addresses, the House of Crafts is cramped, and sports enthusiasts dream of decent conditions for training. In addition, the stylish building will become an adornment of the town. If funding permits, the first stage of the cultural and recreational center will be commissioned by July 3 of the current year.
