Apartments for young specialists will be built in every district center of the Vitebsk region by the end of 2011

The chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Kosinets, gave this instruction to the heads of districts today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, a BELTA correspondent reports. During the inspection by the State Control Committee of the implementation of state minimum social standards for public services in the Vitebsk region, it was found that in some rural districts, there are 2-3 thousand residents per district therapist, while the standard is one therapist per 1.7 thousand residents. The State Control Committee attributes the reason for non-compliance with social standards to the turnover of young specialists. Many of them are forced to live in dormitories or rent housing. According to the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Healthcare Department, 342 young doctors working under distribution in the districts need housing. In addition, the Regional Executive Committee's Education Department states that more than 1,000 families of young teachers do not have their own housing. "Young specialists do not stay in their jobs due to the lack of housing," believes the governor. In this regard, the chairman of the regional executive committee instructed to inventory vacant new houses commissioned in rural areas and transfer them to young specialists, as well as to build a residential building with 30-40 apartments in each district center and allocate them as service housing.
