Latvian investor revives a noble estate in the Senno district
June 30, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. An ancient noble estate in the Sennensky district is being revived by a Latvian investor, Gennady Eliseenko, director of the foreign limited liability company "BelFutures," told a BELTA correspondent.
It is planned to create a cultural and business tourist center on the site of the remains of the outbuildings of the Svyatskiye estate, which the company acquired. Currently, the investor is completing design and survey work and, with the help of specialists from Polotsk State University, is conducting a technical inspection of the structures. As Gennady Eliseenko emphasized, the designers will be tasked with preserving the architectural monument of the early 20th century as much as possible. The Ministry of Culture will oversee the work.
In the village of Belitsa, at the end of the 19th century, the ancestral estate of the Svyatskiye, wealthy and enterprising nobles, was located. It is with their name that the legend of Napoleon's treasure is associated. Allegedly, one of the Svyatskiye, Karl, searched for gold, jewelry, and the richest utensils weighing almost 800 poods, which the French emperor, shamefully leaving Moscow, drowned in Semlevskoye, or, as it is also called, Stoyacheye Lake. According to legend, the landowner's search was successful, and his beautiful estate in Belitsa served as confirmation of this. To this day, the remains of outbuildings, the ruins of the estate with an octagonal tower, and a partially cut down park have been preserved. -0-
