11 cultural workers of the region became laureates of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee awards
The head of the culture department of the regional executive committee, Petr Podgursky, noted that the work of employees of cultural institutions is very important in shaping a person's personality and national identity. "Not a single professional or state holiday passes without cultural workers. Thanks to artists, museum workers, librarians, club workers, and many other specialists, we do not forget our roots," he added.
Petr Podgursky and Denis YakovlevOne of the laureates of the regional executive committee award was Denis Yakovlev, the chief custodian of the funds of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev. He has been working in the museum sphere since 2006 and has spent almost all this time at the Shmyrev Museum. "The theme of the partisan movement in Belarus has not lost its relevance and requires even greater efforts for its study. There is interest in every newly discovered fact and document. Realizing that you are conveying to people what was previously unknown brings great pleasure. But the museum does not only conduct research work; a large percentage of time is spent communicating with young people about the history of the Great Patriotic War," said Denis Yakovlev.
Some cultural workers received certificates of honor from the regional executive committee and letters of gratitude from the Minister of Culture. Among them is Nina Yarmukh, the head of the folk club of patchwork enthusiasts "Roshva" of the Polotsk Regional Center of Crafts and National Cultures. "I have been managing the club for 15 years – since its foundation. It gives people of different ages the opportunity to diversify their free time, learn something new, and realize themselves," she said.
Members of the Polotsk club "Roshva" initiated an unusual project for the 1145th anniversary of their hometown - "Polotsk Charm". Masters from 15 countries took part in it. As a result, a unique handmade canvas was created from more than 400 patches.
