The treatment building of the Vitebsk Regional Hospital "Yurtsevo" was opened after major repairs
A modern facility has appeared within the walls of the former Lyubomirski estate, built in the first half of the 19th century. The historic building has had its roof redone, interfloor ceilings, windows, and doors replaced, and water, electricity, and heating systems installed, along with landscaping of the adjacent territory. The facility is equipped under the Orsha District Development Program. Almost Br3.5 million was spent on construction work.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, said that the historic building had long needed repairs and adaptation for the hospital's needs. The decision to restore the facility was made two years ago. "Today, we have a wonderful facility with new equipment where war and labor veterans will be treated. This facility will enhance the significance of the 'Yurtsevo' hospital. We have improved not only the quality of patient care but will also be able to provide paid services, including for guests from Russia," the governor said.
The chief physician of the hospital, Nikolai Sokolovsky, noted that the new facility is a great gift ahead of May 9th. The building is about two hundred years old, but after restoration, it will serve for hundreds more years. "Comfortable conditions have been created in the new facility for patients and medical staff. In addition to participants and disabled veterans of the war, patients with oncological and neurological profiles will undergo rehabilitation here," the chief physician added.
The history of the "Yurtsevo" hospital began in July 1941 with the opening of an evacuation hospital in Kemerovo, Russia. The staff consisted of medical workers mobilized from hospitals and health centers of the city's industrial enterprises. In 1944, it was redeployed to Orsha and operated as a surgical hospital for the wounded with severe limb injuries. Since January 1946, it was transformed into the Orsha Interregional Hospital for Veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Today, "Yurtsevo" has 210 beds (70 therapeutic and 140 rehabilitation). More than 4,000 people improve their health at the institution annually.
