Lectures on mediation procedures are delivered to future lawyers by specialists from the Vitebsk Regional Economic Court
May 7, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. The Economic Court of the Vitebsk region is implementing a project to explain and popularize simplified economic legal proceedings in higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of the region. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Anton Zakrevsky, assistant to the chairman of the court.
Court specialists have developed a series of interactive lectures, during which the audience is invited to participate in resolving simulated practical situations. In a game format, students (mainly final-year students) not only consolidate their theoretical knowledge of the course "Economic Law" but also learn about the advantages of order proceedings and the settlement of economic disputes through mediation. In this way, economic court specialists decided to participate in the training of future lawyers, helping them make an informed choice of the method of judicial protection of the interests of enterprises, where they will come as young specialists in the near future.
The choice of the target audience is not accidental, as graduates of educational institutions, having acquired knowledge of simplified and abbreviated legal proceedings, will be able to apply them correctly and actively in their activities, emphasized Anton Zakrevsky. Analysis of judicial practice on mediation shows that the reasons for its ineffective application are often psychological. Claimants often misunderstand the legal consequences of concluding a settlement agreement. At the same time, the institution of mediation, under certain conditions, can become the most sought-after method of resolving economic disputes in Belarus and positively affect the quality of justice, believes Anton Zakrevsky.
Currently, the Economic Court of the Vitebsk region is negotiating with a number of universities in the region on the introduction of a special course "Simplified and Abbreviated Economic Legal Proceedings" in law faculties from the new academic year. In addition, on the initiative of the Supreme Economic Court of Belarus, the practice of teaching activities of the Vitebsk Regional Court is planned to be extended to other regions of the country. -0-
