Lepel centenarians receive a monthly supplement to their pension from the local budget

April 7, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Lepel centenarians, who have passed the 100-year mark, receive a pension supplement funded by the local budget, Vasily Ravovoy, head of the department for labor, employment and social protection of the Lepel District Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. By a decision of the District Council of Deputies, each centenarian receives a monthly supplement of Br175 thousand (five basic units). Currently, there are two venerable recipients of the supplement in the district. However, next year this list will double, Vasily Ravovoy is confident: two 99-year-old Lepel residents are preparing to celebrate their centenary. As Vasily Ravovoy noted, caring for the elderly is an important, but not the only task in addressing the demographic problem of the district. About 95% of the district's enterprises and organizations have included clauses in their collective agreements on financial support for families upon the birth of children. Newborn kits, strollers, bedding are the minimum gifts that parents of newborns receive. Manufacturers do not forget about their veterans either. In addition to holiday gifts, they are provided with assistance in maintaining their personal plots. Medicine is successfully developing in the district. The Central District Hospital is actively implementing minimally invasive surgery and endoscopic examination methods. Students of Lepel schools are constantly prize-winners of regional and republican rounds of subject Olympiads. In 2010, almost half of the graduates became university students, and more than a third entered secondary vocational schools. Agroecotourism and roadside services are actively developing in the Lepel region. In 2010, 366 new jobs were created. In the Lepel district, as of January 1, 2011, the population was 35.3 thousand people, of whom 61% were of working age. There are 1362 people over 80 years old and 92 people over 90 years old living in the district. In January-February of the current year, 63 babies were born (in January-February 2010, 47 children), and 106 people died. -0-
