August 15, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Lepel Dairy and Canning Plant OJSC has begun modernizing its energy sector, the enterprise's chief engineer Vladimir Vinnik informed BELTA correspondent.

The enterprise plans to implement the energy sector modernization project, which involves converting the boiler house into a mini-CHP plant, by 2015. Its first phase, scheduled for 2011-2012, includes the construction of a new boiler house with three boilers (the project is undergoing expert review), and the replacement of the transformer substation and electrical communications. The second phase involves the installation of a gas turbine unit for electricity and steam generation in 2013-2014. The electrical capacity of the equipment will be 3.5 MW, and the thermal capacity - 36 tons of steam per hour. At this stage, it is planned to decommission the existing boiler house with a rated capacity of 50 tons of steam per hour.

The cost of the equipment is 4.6 million euros. The payback period for the project is seven years.
