Vitebsk region forestry enterprises plan to procure 5 thousand tons of birch sap

April 20, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Forestries of the Vitebsk region plan to procure 5 thousand tons of birch sap this spring, Oleg Gritskevich, lead engineer for secondary forest use and subsidiary agriculture of the Vitebsk Regional Production Forestry Association (PLHO), told a BELTA correspondent. Birch tapping began last week. During this time, forestry workers collected more than 1.8 thousand tons of sap. The most active collection is carried out in the Begomlsky, Gluboksky, Disnensky, Lepelsky, Postavsky and Tolochinsky forestries. The procured products are supplied to the processing enterprises of the Vitebsk regional consumer union and the Vitebskpisheprom state enterprise, as well as to factories in the Minsk region. The sale of birch sap to the public is not yet very active: only 112 tons have been sold, of which 50 tons were sold by the Vitebsk forestry. The cost of the drink is Br220-250 per liter. "Sap procurement will continue until the end of the month. However, in the coming days, the region's forestries plan to fully meet the needs of the region's enterprises," Oleg Gritskevich noted. -0-
