Vitebsk region forestry enterprises plan to procure over 1 thousand tons of birch sap
The sap will be sold primarily to the public. Deliveries of the product are also planned to the "Teplichny" branch of RUP "Vitebskenergo" in the Orsha district and the Tolochin Cannery.
Trial tapping of trees has already begun in all forestries of the region. In the Polotsk forestry, the first ton of birch sap has already been sold to the public, and here they plan to collect 30 tons in total. Sap flow in the region's forests is just beginning. Mass harvesting of the spring product in the region is planned only for next week, as a drop in temperature is expected.
PLHO reminds that all those wishing to harvest sap independently for personal needs must contact the nearest forestry department to be assigned specially designated areas. Forestry workers will also conduct the necessary briefing on tapping rules and, if necessary, assist in the process to avoid violating the technology. For violation of sap collection rules, use of prohibited means and methods, administrative responsibility is provided, up to a fine of up to 20 base units for citizens, up to 100 base units for individual entrepreneurs, and up to 500 for legal entities (currently, the base unit is Br27).
