Vitebsk region forestry enterprises will procure 1 thousand tons of birch sap

Forestry enterprises of the Vitebsk region will procure 1 thousand tons of birch sap this spring, the Vitebsk Production Forestry Association (PLHO) informed a BELTA correspondent. Ten out of 19 forestry enterprises in the region are engaged in the procurement of the valuable drink this year. They have already started tapping trees. On average, they plan to collect 70-80 tons per day. The first 20 tons of sap have already been collected and delivered to processing plants in Postavy, Sharkovshchina, Glubokoe, Polotsk, and Orsha districts. This year, the Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Combine, which had not previously processed birch sap, has joined the list of these enterprises. A total of 650 tons of sap will be collected for the region's needs. The remaining volume, in accordance with already concluded contracts, will be supplied by the forestry enterprises to the Minsk Non-Alcoholic Beverage Plant, the Borisov Cannery (Minsk region), and the Bykhov Cannery (Mogilev region). The sap flow period will last about 10-15 days, the PLHO noted. Residents of the region can also participate in sap procurement. To do this, they need to contact the forestry enterprise, which will provide a plot for tapping birch trees free of charge, retaining only a supervisory function. The forestry association also reminded that it is cheaper to purchase the healthy drink at the forestry enterprise. Here, the price for one liter will be Br170. The fine for illegal tapping of trees ranges from 10 to 20 base units (currently, one base unit is Br35 thousand). -0-
