Summer landscapes of Vitebsk and Smolensk by young graphic artists will be presented at an exhibition in Vitebsk
March 29, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. A joint exhibition of creative works by students of the art and graphics faculties of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov and Smolensk State University will open in Vitebsk on March 31, timed to coincide with the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Dmitry Senko, Dean of the Art and Graphics Faculty of VSU, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor.
The art and graphics faculties of the universities have been cooperating for over ten years, periodically exchanging exhibitions, holding joint creative events and summer internships. In the summer of 2010, Vitebsk students underwent internships in Smolensk, and future artists from Smolensk - in the Belarusian regional center. Students actively absorbed the new environment, studied historical and architectural monuments, which was reflected in their final works. The results of the summer plein airs will form the basis of the exhibition, which will be held in the exhibition hall of the Art and Graphics Faculty of VSU. There will be about 40 works in total in the exhibition.
The exhibition will feature interesting views of ancient cities. At the same time, the works of Smolensk and Vitebsk artists differ in their execution techniques. While Vitebsk art students are distinguished by expression and a desire for experimentation within the context of the traditions of the Vitebsk Art School, their Smolensk colleagues favor classics and solid academic painting.
The exhibition of student works will be a prologue to the festive events at VSU dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, which will be held with the participation of a delegation from Smolensk State University. -0-
