Lev Leshchenko is a supporter of quotas for broadcasting foreign music
July 17, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Lev Leshchenko advocates for quotas on the broadcast of foreign music. The People's Artist of Russia stated this at a press conference traditionally held for the international arts festival - "Star Hour," BELTA correspondent reports.
According to the maestro, the emergence of hits like "Million Scarlet Roses," "Lavanda," or "Solov'inaya Roshcha" on the modern stage is hindered by the differentiation of music. "There are many TV and radio channels that follow their own formats. Therefore, it is impossible to focus on one hit now. Now, to hear a hit like 'Lavanda,' it needs to be played on all channels. And there are good songs, but unfortunately, the format is killing us," Lev Leshchenko stated.
The singer is convinced that foreign music on domestic channels must be subject to quotas. "I know that Belarus has such a quota. There cannot be more than 50% of foreign repertoire in rotation," he believes. By the way, this practice is the norm in both Europe and America.
"Meanwhile, this does not mean that national music should not integrate, but we must not forget our true Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian culture, and especially music," Lev Leshchenko emphasized. -0-
