Lidia Yermoshina spoke about the innovations of the 2019 parliamentary election campaign

Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Lidiya Yarmoshyna told the air of the First National Channel of Belarusian Radio about innovations that will be used in the elections of deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation.

One of the innovations concerns voting for people with disabilities. "This, by the way, is now used in other countries as well. For wheelchair users who will vote at polling stations, not at home, special voting places will be provided: low desks or tables, so that a person can enter the booth in a wheelchair, or there will be a special table next to the commission with a partition, which will allow voting while sitting in a comfortable position. In addition, we have already agreed with our television companies on the possibility of subtitling the speeches of candidates for deputies, so that people with hearing impairments can read the texts. Of course, as before, stencils for blind citizens to vote independently will be provided. Magnifying glasses will be provided for the visually impaired," - noted Lidiya Yarmoshyna.

An application for mobile phones will also be available throughout the country.

"This is after the formation of polling stations, 60 days before the elections, where the voter, by entering their address, will receive an answer about the location of their polling station and their electoral district. Consequently, they can then view electronically, search the internet, and additionally learn about their candidates for deputies who will run in this district," - emphasized the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission.
