Flax Christmas trees could become a new tourist brand for Vitebsk

Local designers, folk craftsmen and creative youth actively embraced the creative idea. And the result of their efforts immediately attracted significant interest from city tourist companies. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Tatiana Lapina, manager of the information and consulting association "City of Vitebsk and Company" (one of the initiators of the project). More than a hundred New Year's beauties, made of Belarusian linen using various materials, are presented at the exhibition that opened today at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. Despite the large number of exhibits, there are no similar works here. Each of them, thanks to the creative approach of the authors, claims the title of a linen masterpiece and can seriously compete with artificial Christmas trees or become an alternative to live trees. As the project organizers hope - the culture department of the city executive committee, the Orsha flax mill, the consulting association - linen Christmas trees can well become a new tourist brand of Vitebsk, as this is a fashionable and stylish decoration for any home. Confirmation of this is the interest in this project from representatives of tourist companies, who know firsthand about the Europeans' passion for unusual Christmas and New Year decorations. According to Tatiana Lapina, this year's competition was a trial "stone". In 2010, this project will be continued on a larger scale. In particular, it is planned to involve a larger number of designers in it, and together with travel agencies, the organizers intend to prepare special offers for foreign tourists. -0-
