Boat crossings are operating in two villages in the Vitebsk region cut off from the "mainland" by floods
April 11, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A boat crossing has been launched on the Ulyanka River in Beshenkovichi District for the residents of the village of Ulyanovka, which is cut off by water, the press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department, Marina Fando, told a BELTA correspondent.
Despite the fact that Ulyanovka is inhabited by just over 70 people, local authorities and the district emergency department have organized their transportation to the "mainland." Utility services have provided a four-person wooden boat and appointed a boatman. Transportation of people for purchasing food and commuting to work is carried out according to a schedule from 7 am to 8 pm, every 2 hours. In case of an emergency need to transport people outside the schedule, rescuers will assist the regular boatman. In the past weekend alone, almost 60 people used the boat crossing.
Another boat crossing operates on the river near the village of Kuchinshchina in Liozno District. Despite the offer to relocate during the flood period, all 10 residents refused to leave their homes. Before the flood, employees of the Liozno District Emergency Situations Department, together with the village elder, delivered food and essential items to the villagers and instructed them on actions to be taken in case of unforeseen situations. In four days, seven people used the crossing in Kuchinshchina.
Employees of the city and district emergency departments of the Vitebsk region conduct daily monitoring of the flood situation in all potentially dangerous areas. Additional water level posts have been organized, and water levels are monitored three times a day using established measuring poles on rivers and in areas of probable flooding in Liozno, Beshenkovichi, Gorodok, Sharkovshchina, Polotsk, Orsha, Vitebsk, Miory, and Verkhnedvinsk districts.
According to operational data, 2 residential buildings, 8 farmsteads, 6 utility buildings, and 3 low-water road bridges remain flooded in the Vitebsk region in Liozno, Beshenkovichi, Gorodok, Vitebsk, and Verkhnedvinsk districts. -0-
