Logistics, mechanical engineering, and trade will form the basis of cooperation between Orsha and the Chinese city of Qingdao
A protocol of intent to establish friendly ties was signed by the chairman of the district executive committee, Alexander Poznyak, and the inspector of the Commercial Management of the People's Government of Qingdao, Chunyu Xianli.
– We, for our part, will promote mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology, culture, education, and specialist exchange, especially in such key areas as logistics, mechanical engineering, and trade, – stated the head of the delegation of the People's Republic of China. – Establishing business contacts with the Orsha region is extremely important for us.
Speaking about the advantages of establishing bilateral relations, Alexander Poznyak emphasized that the Orsha region is actively developing sister city ties and cooperating with near and far abroad countries, which allows not only to get to know each other better but also to establish close mutually beneficial economic contacts. In particular, with China.
– According to the results of work for January-February 2018, the volume of foreign trade with the People's Republic of China amounted to 950 thousand dollars (an increase of 2.9 times compared to 2017), including exports of goods – 60.2 thousand dollars, – stated Alexander Poznyak. – So far, the only exporter to the PRC is RUPTP "Orsha Linen Mill"; the basis of supplies consists of flax tow and waste.
In accordance with the signed credit agreement between China's Exim Bank and Orsha Linen Mill, a credit line was opened for the implementation of an investment project to modernize the enterprise with production expansion in 2015-2017.
In December 2017, the project was completed, with an investment volume of 129.3 million rubles.
The Chairman of the District Executive Committee noted that in the sphere of interregional cooperation between the Orsha District and the city of Shishou, a protocol of intent on establishing sister-city relations has been signed, and in August 2017, a memorandum of cooperation between the Orsha District and the city of Yiwu, Zhejiang Province.
Close contacts have also been established in the field of education.
The guests from China were able to familiarize themselves with the organization of production and the range of products manufactured by the Orsha Flax Combine during an excursion to the enterprise and the House of Flax.
