The best Belarusian agro-ecotourism estate of 2018 is "Zapovedny Ostrov" from the Glubokoe district.
Alexander is the son of the Belarusian writer, poet, and translator Kastus Tsvirko. In Minsk, Tsvirko Jr. owned a bookstore business. After buying a dacha in the Gluboksky district, he became inspired by the idea of developing an estate and soon left the capital to settle in the village.
"Zapovedny Ostrov" is located in the geographical center of Europe on a small island between two lakes – Ives and Ozerko. Three cozy wooden houses can comfortably accommodate up to 20 guests. Inside, there are separate bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, paintings on the walls, and knitted rugs on the floor. Wooden benches with swings, beds, and rocking chairs are crafted by skilled artisans.
The agro-ecotourism estate primarily hosts Belarusians and Russians, but also receives tourists from Western Europe, the USA, and South Africa. As the owner explains, "Zapovedny Ostrov" is a place for quiet recreation in nature. Here, guests can enjoy a banya (Russian sauna), go fishing, take a boat ride, or cycle.
– It brings me satisfaction when people who visit have positive emotions and a good mood, – said Alexander Tsvirko after receiving the award.
