The best people of the Vitebsk region will be awarded a special badge for the first time

January 18, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The badge "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" has been established by the Heraldic Council under the President of the Republic of Belarus. For the first time, this award will be presented along with the diploma "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region," the Department of Organizational and Personnel Work of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The central part of the badge features an image of the great coat of arms of the Vitebsk region, and the green color of the ribbon is borrowed from the color of the region's flag. Thus, the main elements and color combination of the "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" badge successfully reveal its purpose. As emphasized in the organizational and personnel department, the honorary title is a form of encouragement for a significant personal contribution to the socio-economic development of the region, for successful and selfless actions to save people, ensure legality and law and order, for high achievements in science, education, culture, sports, active civic position and public activities, as well as for other achievements that have brought fame to the Vitebsk region and have gained public recognition. Based on the results of 2009, the honorary title "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" will be awarded to 100 residents of the region. The award ceremony will be held in Vitebsk on January 23. -0-
