The country's best innovative project was developed by a Vitebsk Medical University employee
One of the undisputed leaders of the competition was Gleb Uselenok, a senior lecturer at the Educational Institution "Vitebsk State Medical University named after the Order of Friendship of Peoples," for his project on the development, validation, and evaluation of a neuropsychological diagnostics software package. His work not only took first place in the "Best Innovative Project" nomination but was also selected for further commercialization.
As the contestant explained, neuropsychological diagnostics is a highly accurate assessment of a person's nervous system properties, comparable in effectiveness to MRI. This diagnostics is performed using a mobile application on the Android platform. Training a specialist to conduct the examination takes about an hour, and the diagnostics itself takes about 25 minutes. In a simple, intuitive format, the person undergoes tests presented as games. After processing the results, the patient is presented with their neuropsychological profile.
"With these results, a person can consult a specialist who will make the final diagnosis. Moreover, our tests can help identify quite specific properties of the nervous system's psyche. For example, we have currently developed and approved by the Ministry of Health a method for diagnosing alcohol dependence. This test determines whether a person has a positive association with alcohol or not. By the way, this methodology identifies the presence of alcohol dependence better than screening studies. First and foremost, this development is import substitution, so we are doing everything to promote such an approach in Belarus," noted Gleb Uselenok.
