The regional stage of the "Yolka-fest-2014" review competition became a kind of rehearsal for the most beloved New Year's holidays for adults and children. With their inherent spontaneity, boys and girls watched the Ded Morozes and Snegurochkas who had gathered from all over the region to compete for the title of the best. While the contestants were preparing for their performances, some children hurried to inform the main winter wizard about their achievements and exemplary behavior, others talked about their wishes for gifts under the Christmas tree: a skateboard, skis, and skates, and someone simply wished happiness and health for everyone. The abundance of Ded Morozes and their granddaughters did not surprise the young guests at all; rather, it even pleased them, because they were all real, and moreover, with bags of gifts. The children warmly and with sincere delight greeted each performer. The difficult mission of choosing the ideal character to represent the Vitebsk region at the republican competition fell to the adult jury. Its chairman was the chief director of the Vitebsk Culture Center, Alexey Vashchenok. He himself has been playing the role of the winter wizard for over 23 years and knows from his own experience that New Year's holidays are a serious matter. Ded Moroz is primarily a psychologist, because the more he can feel the audience and share the joyful mood with them, the more memorable it will be for both children and adults.

The jury carefully evaluated everything from costumes, stage presence, ability to connect with partners and the audience, to the content of the entertainment program and the impression left on the viewers after the performance. For example, the Vitebsk Ded Moroz and Snegurochka from Secondary School No. 16, Vitaly Khadanyok and Nadezhda Tatun, opted for modern technologies: the advanced grandfather communicated via Skype, downloaded music onto a flash drive, all while wearing roller skates. This unconventional approach earned them first place in the nomination "Best Role-Playing Program". The colorful performance in national style by Maxim Mishurny and Nadezhda Krasnovskaya (Vitebsk Palace of Children and Youth Creativity) was also memorable for the audience and judges. Alexander Tikhonenko and Victoria Shumko from the Regional Palace of Children and Youth actively engaged with the audience. The jury appreciated their professionalism and artistry, for which they received the title of the best Ded Moroz and Snegurochka of 2014. Now they need to represent our region at the republican "Yolka-Fest" on December 12 in Minsk. The fairytale duo of Alexander Latyshev and Tatiana Getzman from the Children and Youth Creativity Center of the Oktyabrsky District of Vitebsk won prizes in two nominations at once. Lyudmila Shlyk, Snegurochka from Mazolovskaya Secondary School of Vitebsk District, received a special award for her performing skills.
