In honor of Belarusian Cinema Day, the "Mobilfilm-2014" competition is being held for the first time in Polotsk and the Polotsk region, dedicated to the memory of Belarusian film director Yuri Tarich. According to the terms of the creative competition, the submitted works must be shot exclusively using a mobile phone, edited and processed at the participant's discretion using special effects, sounds, melodies, titles, etc. The duration of the works should be from two to five minutes, and the age of the participants is from 12 to 17 years old.
The competition consists of three stages, two of which (school and district) have already been completed. The final stage will be a film forum on December 16, during which the best creative works of young "directors" will be demonstrated, and the competition winners will be awarded. The venue for the aspiring filmmakers has been determined as Secondary School No. 18 named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk. In the school's foyer, visitors will be able to view an exhibition of drawings "I Love Cinema". At the "Retro Cinema" area, participants will be able to take part in an interactive quiz, a costume character contest "Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe", and take souvenir photos.
The honorable function of determining the winners and prize-winners of the competition is entrusted to a competent jury. The judging panel will evaluate the originality of the idea, the quality of execution, the scope of work, and the mastery of techniques with various materials. The best films will be determined in four nominations: "Polotsk, My Favorite City", "Best Acting Performance", "Originality of the Plot Idea", "Socially Significant Video".
The winner of the audience award will be determined by direct voting organized on the website of the State Educational Institution "Polotsk District Center for Children and Youth".
