The best young police assistants were honored at the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate
— In early February, our country celebrates the Day of Youth Law Enforcement Detachments, — said Tatyana Ryk, head of the organizational and program activities department of the BRSM regional committee. — There are about 120 such formations operating in the region, uniting over 2,000 young people, and their numbers are growing every year.
Members of the YLEP jointly with law enforcement officers patrol the streets of settlements, recreation areas, and places of mass gatherings. In addition, the volunteers maintain order at discos, in dormitories, etc.
Citizens' participation in law enforcement is provided for by the legislation of Belarus, but not everyone is willing to engage in such a responsible and sometimes dangerous activity. And those who have decided to do so regularly improve their theoretical and physical training to meet the high requirements set for YLEP members. For example, specialized training is regularly conducted for volunteers in the patrol and post service regiment of the Department of Internal Affairs of the regional executive committee.
— The members of these detachments are our indispensable assistants, so we pay great attention to working with them, — clarified Andrey Mikhailov, First Deputy Commander of the PPSM. — Firstly, they increase the number of police patrols in the city and act as witnesses or sworn witnesses if necessary. Secondly, they have a positive influence on their peers, serving as an example of honor and courage for them.
In the last two months alone, volunteers have helped Vitebsk region police officers identify over 270 offenses. In addition, voluntary detachments are an excellent training ground for law enforcement agencies. This academic year, they were issued 55 recommendations for admission to educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
At the solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of YLEP, not only the best young police assistants were awarded, but also law enforcement officers who made a significant contribution to the development of youth detachments.
