The region's best livestock workers were honored in Vitebsk

In Vitebsk, the best livestock workers of the region were awarded. The solemn ceremony took place at the Palace of Culture of the Vitebsk Order of "Badge of Honor" State Academy of Veterinary Medicine.

About 120 people received letters of gratitude, certificates of honor, and medals. These include drivers, engineers, tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock complex workers, animal breeders, veterinarians, enterprise managers – those who, through their labor achievements and personal qualities, create the foundation for the development of the economy of the northern region and the country.

The people present in the hall have proven themselves to be highly skilled specialists and workers, sincerely devoted to their cause, working regardless of holidays, time of day, or season, and working well, noted the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin. "The past year demanded unprecedented organization and discipline. It is no longer a secret that livestock farming is the most high-tech segment of our economy. It consists of a large number of cells, segments: feed base, veterinary services, and so on, compliance with all technical regulations. And any deviation in any link of this complex chain does not go unnoticed. Work to improve the level of organization of all production links is the key not only to the dairy viability of agricultural enterprises but also to the intensive development of the economy," he said.

The head of the region added that certain results have been achieved in the livestock industry, and there are stably operating farms that have traditionally set a high bar – more than 7 thousand kg of milk per cow. "Our flagships remain 'Larinovka', 'MazolovoGaz' of Vitebsk district, 'Shaiterovo' of Verkhnedvinsk district, and the 'Yubileiny' agro-combine of Orsha district," noted Alexander Subbotin.

He named the Orsha district among the best in cattle breeding, where the average daily weight gain was 672 g, and a number of farms that achieved a weight gain of over 700 g. According to the chairman of the regional executive committee, one can look up to "MazolovoGaz", "Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm", "Mayak Vysokoe", "Larinovka", and "Agrokombinat Yubileiny".

There are 15 cattle fattening complexes operating in the Vitebsk region. Last year, thanks to state support, the premises were repaired and reconstructed. These works are ongoing. The best among such complexes remain those that are part of "Vitebskagroproduct", as well as the pig complex of the agricultural enterprise "Shaiterovo".

The chairman of the regional executive committee assured that the region continues to update its material and technical base, carries out the construction and reconstruction of farms with a transition to modern methods of animal husbandry. In particular, another breeder was introduced in the Orsha district, and dairy farms were built in the Postavy and Senno districts. The construction of 12 farms is planned for this and next year. In addition, construction work will continue in the region on prophylactic facilities, trenches, and the conversion of old farm buildings and pig complexes for raising calves. All these complex measures will significantly increase production volumes.

Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats added that the sphere's workers have made a huge contribution to the development of the country's livestock industry. "I am very pleased today to note that the Vitebsk region is gaining momentum. We finished last year with a small but still positive growth - 101.5%. This year, based on the results of the first three months, we have increased the indicator by almost another 1.5%. I note today that the productivity of the dairy herd has begun to increase: the region is adding 3% milk. Pig breeders have exceeded the republican benchmark - 870 g of average daily weight gain. This deserves the highest respect and approval," he emphasized.-0-

The Vitebsk region demonstrates good dynamics in the development of the livestock sector. This was stated at the awards ceremony by Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the northern region is showing good dynamics in the development of the livestock industry this year. "Milk yields have increased, milk quality has improved, and more milk has begun to be sold to processing enterprises. This, in turn, provides the domestic market with food products and allows trade with neighboring countries. Based on the results of 2022, the Vitebsk region ensured an export growth rate of 123.2%. We see that the pace of sales of agricultural products in the current months has not decreased. Both the republic and the Vitebsk region are adding," he said.

Highlighting the work of individual enterprises in the region, the Deputy Prime Minister drew attention to the implementation of technologies that should be adopted by all farms in the region. According to him, there is both a learning process and advanced experience here, and it has been adapted. "The potential of the northern region, in particular, is quite high, we see this. And the trend it has set deserves respect. Based on the results of the first three months, the Vitebsk region ranked second in gross domestic product in our republic, exceeding 101% in agricultural production."

For the region's agro-industrial complex, this year should be decisive, believes Leonid Zayats: "We have prepared for the spring sowing campaign better than the previous year. The equipment has been repaired better, and its reliability is higher. We see that the amount of mineral, nitrogen, and phosphorus fertilizers also exceeds last year's level. Plant protection products and seeds are available. Weather conditions are conducive to ensuring the care of winter crops and timely sowing. As they say, a spring day feeds the year."

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister urged industry representatives to work on improving economic indicators. "All this labor should be directed for the benefit of people. The better we work, the better we should earn. Therefore, when receiving revenue, we need to think about how to increase people's wages," he continued, noting that such an approach should be taken as a basis and consideration should be given to sources of wage increases through increased volumes of marketable products. "And for there to be marketable products, it is necessary to work on farms and in fields," Leonid Zayats concluded.
