The region's best livestock breeders were honored today in Vitebsk

The solemn event, held at the House of Culture of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, was attended by Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Igor Brylo, Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Agricultural Workers Nikolai Labushev, as well as heads of districts of the region.

Nikolai Sherstnev noted that about 15.5 thousand people are employed in the region's livestock industry, the majority of whom are women.
"At the same time, the work of livestock breeders is very hard, it must be respected, and people involved in livestock farming must be thanked. I hope that today will mark the beginning of a tradition of honoring the best milkmaids, zootechnicians, veterinarians, and representatives of other specialties," the governor emphasized.
He noted that the region can be proud of its achievements. "We have enterprises that are among the best in the republic. And this is an achievement of specialists, professionals in their field, people who are not indifferent and fully dedicated to their profession," said Nikolai Sherstnev.
Viktor Gutorov, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Agricultural Workers, told a BELTA correspondent that the initiative to award the best livestock breeders belongs to the trade union. The idea was immediately approved and supported by regional and district authorities. "As a rule, 70% of each farm's income is revenue from livestock products. And therefore, it is not surprising that we decided to pay more attention to these specialists. The best representatives of the industry have gathered here. And since the majority of them are women, we specifically chose the time of the event on the eve of March 8.
Our women deserve especially warm words of appreciation for their hard work. First and foremost, these are the milkmaids, who get 7-10 thousand tons of milk per cow," he said. "We understand how difficult labor is in agricultural production. And we know that many of them are irreplaceable. Therefore, we tried to organize a celebration for the front-runners with the presentation of deserved awards, flowers, gifts, and a concert."

150 of the best livestock workers came to the celebration, more than 40 of them were awarded certificates of honor and gratitude from the regional executive committee, the sectoral ministry, and the republican and regional committees of the trade union of agricultural workers.
