The best agro-ecotourism estate in the Vitebsk region will be chosen from 15 candidates, reported Svetlana Astanina, head of the tourism and sports and recreation sector of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's sports and tourism department.

She noted that the number of those wishing to participate in the "Best Agro-Ecotourism Estate of the Vitebsk Region" competition is growing every year. If last year about 30 applications were received, this year - about 40. "This year, 15 participants were selected from the Braslav, Vitebsk, Gluboksky, Dokshitsky, Miory, Orsha, Polotsk, Postavy, Rossony, Senno, Ushachy, and Shumilino districts. Most of them have recently started in agro-ecotourism. So it will be especially interesting to see new facilities and, at the same time, to learn about the problems and needs of novice entities in the sector," noted Svetlana Astanina.

Soon, a specially created commission of employees from the department, OJSC "Belagroprombank", and the public council for the development of agro-ecotourism in the region will visit the participants' estates. And in late October - early November, the results will be summarized. The winner and two laureates will be determined in each of the five nominations: "Eco-Estate of the Year", "Preservation of Belarusian Traditions", "Hospitality", "Healthy Lifestyle", and "Best Start". "Participation in the competition, the title of laureate is additional advertising for individual entities and the entire agro-ecotourism sector of the Vitebsk region. And it continues to develop qualitatively and quantitatively. As of August 1, 603 estates were operating in the region," added Svetlana Astanina. The competition is organized and conducted by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee in conjunction with OJSC "Belagroprombank" and the Belarusian Public Association "Rest in the Village".
