Lukashenko instructed to provide the CEC with the necessary support during the election campaign
"I would like to discuss issues that Lidia Mikhailovna (CEC Chairperson Lidia Ermoshina. - BELTA's note) may have before the start of the most acute period of registration and campaigning of future presidential candidates," said the head of state.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that this meeting is traditional: "We have always considered the problems that we will have to solve, and the issues of providing assistance to the Central Election Commission."
The head of state noted that only a few people work at the CEC on a permanent basis. "Two people are on a permanent basis - myself and the secretary. And seven staff members," Lidia Ermoshina clarified.
"It is clear that two responsible employees cannot organize the elections in any way, especially from a technical point of view. Therefore, the Presidential Administration and the Office of the President have always provided the necessary support that the CEC requests. Moreover, this must be done carefully, so that neither we nor Lidia Mikhailovna are accused of her using some administrative resource and the resource of the President (also a potential presidential candidate). Everything that the CEC asks for - we must provide this support," said the head of state.
He noted, and Lidia Ermoshina confirmed, that there are no issues and cannot be any issues in terms of financing. "As always, we provide support for communication, transportation of people, and those working at the polling stations, we need enterprises to support them, and so on," the Belarusian leader called attention to.
