Lukashenko demands strict adherence to the modernization deadlines of woodworking enterprises

Лукашенко требует жестко соблюдать сроки модернизации деревообрабатывающих предприятий

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko demands strict adherence to the modernization deadlines for woodworking enterprises. The Head of State announced this today while visiting OJSC "Vitebskdrev," as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"You must work as if in wartime. I have given you a clear signal, moreover, I have taken on great responsibility by signing the relevant decree, for which I am being criticized from America to Russia. Therefore, I will not forgive anyone. You must work day and night," stated Alexander Lukashenko.

"It's time to buckle down. Therefore, do not even question the deadlines," emphasized the President.

During his visit to OJSC "Vitebskdrev," Alexander Lukashenko was briefed on the enterprise's modernization and the implementation of an investment project to organize the production of MDF/HDF fiberboard. The Head of State familiarized himself with the progress of the new workshop construction and modern technological equipment. As reported to the President, the main reason for the failure to meet the investment project deadlines is the fault of the construction workers, who did not ensure the proper pace of work. "It's a minus for you that you didn't make them work as they should. You should have seized these volumes," noted Alexander Lukashenko.

The President also drew attention to the need to more actively utilize vacant areas for woodworking lines, which will produce highly liquid products in demand in foreign markets. Moreover, Belarus has enough raw materials for such production. "It is a crime when we have vacant areas that can be utilized," emphasized the Head of State.

The President was assured that the main work on creating new production at OJSC "Vitebskdrev" will be completed by mid-2013. Construction and installation work, according to the Governor of Vitebsk Region Alexander Ksinets, is planned to be completed by March 1. In this regard, the President instructed the State Control Committee to monitor the deadlines and quality of work, demanding that no showmanship be allowed in this regard.

In general, according to the enterprise management, the modernization of production facilities will be fully completed in 2014-2015. By 2015, the average employee salary is expected to exceed $800, which is more than twice the current amount. Production and export volumes will also significantly increase.

Alexander Lukashenko also inspected the new workshop for the production of laminated flooring, and the production areas of the old enterprise OJSC "Vitebskdrev". Existing production facilities are also planned to be modernized and technically re-equipped.
