Lukomlskaya GRES increased electricity generation by 37.6% in January-May

June 18, Minsk / Irina Aniskevich - BELTA /. Lukomlskaya GRES (Vitebsk region) increased electricity generation by 37.6% in January-May 2010 compared to the same period last year, the station informed BELTA correspondent. 5.091 billion kWh of electricity were produced. The capacity utilization of the largest Belarusian power plant in January-May this year averaged 239.1 MW per unit (compared to 215 MW in the same period of 2009) with a nominal capacity of one power unit of 300 MW. The specific fuel consumption for electricity generation at Lukomlskaya GRES in January-May 2010 was 309.6 g per 1 kWh (compared to 315.2 g per 1 kWh in the same period of 2009). Over four months, 6.5 thousand tons of standard fuel were saved at the station. As explained at the station, the volume of energy produced corresponds to the assigned dispatch schedule. Based on the results of five months, the Belarusian power system as a whole generated more electricity than in the same period last year. The increase in generation is due to an increase in electricity consumption in the republic compared to the same period last year. The volumes of heat energy supplied were also affected by colder weather conditions in the current heating season. In addition, in May, Lukomlskaya GRES completed the modernization of four power units, which will allow saving up to 1.5 tons of standard fuel per day for each of the four units, while the capacity of the GRES has increased. Lukomlskaya GRES is a branch of RUP "Vitebskenergo" of the State Production Association "Belenergo". The installed capacity of the station is 2.4 thousand MW, which is more than 30% of the installed capacity of the entire energy system of Belarus. -0-
