The ski-bike became a means of transportation for tourists through the winter Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve

The ski-bike has become a means of transportation in the winter Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, as told to a BELTA correspondent by the deputy director of the reserve, Diana Simanovich.

Specifically for tourists, the recreation organizers purchased five unusual means of transportation - ktracks. They resemble bicycles where the front wheel is replaced by a ski, and the rear wheel is equipped with a track system. Silent movement on ktracks allows tourists to admire not only the beauty of the winter forest in the reserve but also the numerous wild animals that come out onto the forest trails. After all, one can ride a ski-bike where a snowmobile cannot pass. Moreover, it is an environmentally friendly mode of transport, which is so important for a protected area, the interlocutor explained.

A trip on ktracks to the Rozhnyanskoye raised bog is included in the winter ecological route "Belarusian Winter." This route is designed for active recreation enthusiasts and introduces them to the beauty of untouched Belarusian nature, national cuisine, and various wellness methods - from hiking and skiing to an infrared sauna. However, those who come to the reserve for a weekend getaway can also use the ski-bike.

In 2012, the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve was visited by almost 42,000 tourists, with every sixth one being a foreigner. Untouched Belarusian forests most often attract Russians, Poles, Germans, French, British, and Chinese.

The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve is included in the global network of biosphere reserves within the framework of UNESCO's international "Man and the Biosphere" Programme and is a member of the Federation of Nature and National Parks of Europe, and is included in the List of European Key Ornithological and Botanical Territories. The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve is one of the few protected natural areas in Central and Eastern Europe with such exceptionally high ecological value. The reserve has state status, is also a biosphere reserve, a biogenetic reserve, a key ornithological territory, a monitoring point of the National Environmental Monitoring System (NEMS), and has the status of a Ramsar site.
