Large-scale modernization and development prospects: the machine tool plant in Orsha is implementing a major investment project

Масштабная модернизация и перспективы развития: станкозавод в Орше реализует крупный инвестпроект

Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko's working visit to the Orsha district continued with a visit to OJSC "Stankozavod "Krasny Borrets" in Orsha.

The core of this enterprise is the production of metal-cutting machine tools; the production of almost all types of grinding equipment, as well as milling machines without CNC, small-scale mechanization machines, and various technological equipment has been mastered here.

Roman Golovchenko familiarized himself with the technological processes, as well as with the finished products. He paid attention to the issues of industrial enterprise development both in the Orsha district and in the Vitebsk region. Special attention was paid to modernization and the promising results it will lead to. In addition, the prospects for the development of the entire machine-tool industry of Belarus were discussed, as well as why it is important not to miss any opportunities in the current conditions.
As Deputy Minister of Industry Alexander Efimov said, "Krasny Borrets" is one of the key enterprises in the machine-tool industry of Belarus. "Today, the overall strategy for the development of the country's machine-tool industry was considered, directions for further progress were determined, as well as partners with whom we will implement the scaling of our projects in terms of competencies and investments. Of course, this primarily concerns our partners and friends from the Russian Federation," he said.

According to the Deputy Minister, an important investment project for the country is being implemented at the Orsha Machine Tool Plant to create a full range of grinding equipment. "These are high-precision machine tools used to achieve surfaces with high quality roughness and precision parameters," said Alexander Efimov. "The uniqueness of the Krasny Borrets equipment lies in the fact that it is mainly developed specifically for the customer's specific goals, tasks, and requirements. These are not mass-produced machines, but top-tier equipment. They allow for the production of all products that are in demand in mechanical engineering, aviation, and engine building. In those industries where we must ensure technological sovereignty."
The investment project is financed, in part, by the Russian Federation. In addition, the Deputy Minister of Industry noted that options for scaling this type of production are being considered, including on the territory of Russia. "Understanding the large and growing market of the Union State, there are certain agreements, and in the near future, such a project may appear on the territory of our partners," he said.

The funding for the first stage of the investment project, in terms of comprehensive modernization, is estimated at over $10 million. "This is only the first stage," he pointed out. "These will be credit resources that we will direct towards modernization."
The first stage of the comprehensive modernization of the machine tool enterprise in Orsha will allow for the purchase of 35 units of technological equipment, as well as the creation or modernization of more than 40 jobs.

"The machine tool plant in Orsha operates in unique conditions that other enterprises, not only in Belarus but also in the world, can envy. In fact, for many groups of unique equipment, orders are already being formed for 2025," emphasized Alexander Efimov.
