Healthcare professionals of the Vitebsk region have withstood the blow of coronavirus infection with dignity - Vladimir Andreichenko
"Unfortunately, the coronavirus has not bypassed Belarus. The Vitebsk region took this challenge and the first blow. And it did it with dignity. Thanks to the attention that is constantly paid by the head of state, the reasonable actions taken at the regional executive committee level, the assistance from the Ministry of Health, and, of course, the dedication of doctors, all medical staff of the region, this difficult situation has been brought under control and remains manageable to this day. This is primarily due to the healthcare workers," emphasized Vladimir Andreichenko.

The Speaker emphasized that doctors had steadfastly remained at the forefront of the fight all this time. "Despite the huge risk, you selflessly and professionally performed your job, fought for the health and lives of our people, for which you have our deepest gratitude. And we bow low to your colleagues, wishing good health to all your relatives and loved ones," he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Subbotin also expressed words of gratitude to the medical workers in a conversation with journalists. "Now, events are taking place across the country with the presentation of well-deserved awards to healthcare professionals, during which 'thank you' is repeatedly heard in their address. I think this week it will be the most frequently used word. For my part, I want to say that their profession is not a job, but a calling. After all, it is they who stand on the front line of the fight against the disease, protect our lives and safety, and our well-being," the Vice Premier added.
A solemn meeting was held at the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic. More than a hundred healthcare professionals of the region were awarded state awards, commendations, and certificates of honor. Among them is Vladimir Kozlovsky, Head of the Department of Faculty Therapy at the Vitebsk Medical University. For many years of fruitful work and exemplary performance of official duties, the professor was awarded a Commendation from the President.
"There was an emergency situation, but everyone worked in the same direction – to preserve the health of the people of our country. We had to learn on the go, to adapt. We also worked as a unified bloc with foreign scientists and doctors who helped to understand the essence of the disease. The instructions and recommendations of the Ministry of Health, and competent organizational measures were very helpful. Therefore, we managed to achieve such a result," noted Vladimir Kozlovsky.
Due to his age, he is in a high-risk group, however, he has been actively working all this time. "I couldn't leave because at such moments, we must stick together and share our experience. Our profession is like that, we must be in our place," emphasized Vladimir Kozlovsky.
