The month-long preparation for spring field work has started in the Vitebsk region
A month of preparation for spring field work has started in the Vitebsk region, as reported by Viktor Gutorov, chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Agricultural Workers.
According to him, the month of public control over compliance with labor protection legislation in agricultural organizations of the region is being held on the eve of mass field work. Therefore, special attention is now paid to preparing equipment for going into the fields, providing machine operators with work clothes, special footwear, and other personal protective equipment. Issues related to the organization of hot meals, conducting training seminars on safe work methods and techniques when performing technological operations, and other relevant topics are also under control.
"All events of the month are of a preventive nature. Our goal is to identify and eliminate existing shortcomings before the start of sowing, and to increase the level of knowledge of agricultural organization workers on labor protection issues," emphasized Viktor Gutorov. In the Vitebsk region, the total sown area of agricultural crops this year will be 796 thousand hectares. Half of the arable land will be allocated to grain and leguminous crops, with leguminous crops occupying 120 thousand hectares, which will be 15% of the arable land.
