The international watercolor biennale "Water + Paint" will be held in Polotsk for the third time
February 7, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The international watercolor biennale "Vada + farba" will be held in Polotsk for the third time from June 3 to August 7, reported Larisa Lysenko, head of the "Art Gallery" branch of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, to a BELTA correspondent.
The museum-reserve and the Belarusian Union of Artists are the organizers of this project. Watercolor artists, art historians, and art critics from neighboring countries - Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, and Ukraine - are invited to participate. Applications for participation will be accepted until April 1.
According to Larisa Lysenko, the creative unions of artists have already begun selecting works for the Polotsk biennale, and, judging by the practice of previous exhibitions, the works of the best and most authoritative masters will be presented at it. More than 100 recognized watercolor artists took part in the first and second biennales. Along with exhibiting their works, during conferences, they discussed current issues of contemporary watercolor painting and got acquainted with the development trends of national watercolor schools.
A symposium-conference "Watercolor as a Creative Space" is also planned to be held at the third biennale. A catalog will be published following the exhibition. -0-
