The International Scientific and Practical School at Vitebsk Medical University will be dedicated to 21st-century infections

March 23, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Leading specialists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine will deliver lectures to attendees of a scientific and practical school on infectious diseases, which will run from March 24 to 26 at Vitebsk State Medical University. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Dean of the General Medicine Faculty of VSMU, Chairman of the Republican Scientific Society of Infectologists, Doctor of Medical Sciences Valery Semenov. Vitebsk Medical University is organizing an educational process in this format for practicing physicians of various specialties for the first time. Given the large number of infectious diseases, it is often not infectologists, but general practitioners or pediatricians who are the first to encounter patients with infectious diseases. "In such a situation, it is important for doctors of various specialties to have up-to-date information, to be able to make a correct diagnosis and provide first aid," emphasized Valery Semenov. The sessions will cover various aspects of so-called social infections, including influenza, acute respiratory infections, intestinal infections, viral hepatitis, meningitis, and others. On the first day, lectures will focus on current issues of infectious diseases in the practice of general practitioners and family doctors, followed by pediatricians and infectologists. The third and final day of the school will be dedicated to issues of infectious diseases in surgery and gynecology. Leading scientists and practitioners from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, specializing in various areas of infectious diseases and recognized authorities in these fields of scientific interest, will act as lecturers. Attendees of the scientific and practical school will be practicing physicians and heads of departments from district and regional medical institutions from all regions of Belarus. This format of education not only provides additional knowledge but also expands opportunities for professional communication, allows for discussion of issues related to teaching infectious disease disciplines, exchange of experience, and consultation with leading specialists. "The organization of the first scientific and practical school will allow us, among other things, to work out all organizational issues, and in the future, we plan to invite doctors for training annually. Furthermore, preliminary agreements have already been reached with leading specialists from far-abroad countries to give lectures," added Valery Semenov. -0-
