The international beach soccer tournament will be held in Vitebsk from August 20-22

Teams from five countries will take part in the international beach soccer tournament "Friendship Cup", which will be held for the first time in Vitebsk from August 20 to 22. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the department of physical culture, sports and tourism of the regional executive committee. National teams of Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova and the team of the Kaliningrad region (Russia) will gather in the regional center. Initially, the participants will be divided into two groups. Based on the results of the group stage, a pair of finalists will be determined, which will include the group winners. The third prize place of the tournament will be contested by the teams that took second place in the groups. The winners and prize-winners will be awarded cups and medals, and the best athletes in playing roles will also be encouraged with commemorative prizes. The tournament became possible thanks to the construction of the city's only beach soccer field to date. The sports facility with 450 seats is located in a landscaped recreation area in the flood plain of the Vitba River in the central part of the city. Over Br1 billion was spent on its construction. The Football Federation of Belarus provided great assistance in the creation of such a facility with a new functional purpose for the city, and also supported the holding of an international tournament in this sport. The international tournament will be a kind of presentation of the new sports facility in the city. The beach soccer stadium is part of a complex of sports facilities created in the recreation area on the Vitba River. It also houses an artificial turf mini-football field, beach volleyball courts, basketball courts, and a tennis court. A cross-country ski and roller ski track over 3 km long is being laid along the bank of the Vitba River.
