The Belarusian Foreign Ministry expects European partners to provide an objective assessment of the events of December 19.

December 23, Minsk /BELTA/. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that European partners will be able to move away from biased assessments and develop an objective understanding of what happened in Minsk on December 19. This was stated by Andrei Savinykh, Head of the Information Department - Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a briefing today, commenting on the statements made by his European counterparts following the presidential elections in Belarus and the events provoked by the opposition minority, BELTA correspondent reports. "We are carefully analyzing all statements made by our European counterparts following the presidential elections and the events provoked by the opposition minority," the MFA representative emphasized. "Preliminarily, we note that these statements are an initial involuntary reaction, they are highly emotional in nature. They lack a rational component of assessment." Andrei Savinykh noted that the events provoked by the unlawful actions of the opposition minority have overshadowed the election process itself and the results of the expression of will by the impressive majority of the Belarusian people. "We are actively working with our European partners, providing them with objective information about the events that have occurred, and we expect that our efforts will help them move away from biased assessments and develop an objective perception of what happened," emphasized the Head of the Information Department of the Belarusian MFA. -0-
