The Vitebsk region police is organizing a reception of reports on traffic violations on its website
The Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee is considering the possibility of creating a feature on the department's official website to receive reports of traffic rule violations.
It is planned that a separate banner will appear on the website with an email address to which such reports, along with attached visual materials, can be sent. To ensure that applicants format their electronic letters in accordance with the legislation on citizens' appeals, a corresponding memo will be placed nearby. Based on these appeals, administrative penalties will be imposed as soon as possible.
This and other proposals were voiced during a round table discussion held at the Department of Internal Affairs by the head of the regional police, Viktor Senko, with the participation of motorcyclists. Following a high-profile road accident in the regional center, in which a young married couple and the motorcyclist himself died under the wheels of a sports bike, the traffic police department and the entire Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee have paid special attention to these road users.
Motorcyclists shared their observations, for example, complaining about speed limits and proposing to review the time frames for traffic signs prohibiting motorcyclists from riding on the central streets of the city. At the same time, they expressed their readiness to provide recordings from their dashcams to the regional traffic police to bring violators to justice.
Also, before the event started, about 50 motorcyclists tested their knowledge of the Traffic Regulations. "All invited participants were offered to take part in an anonymous survey to identify aggressive behavior on the road. The survey results showed that 71% of those tested behave aggressively towards other road users. However, 98% of drivers, when conflict situations arise, believe that guilt should be distributed equally among all participants in the conflict. As for the traffic regulations knowledge test, the majority of those who took part in the test made mistakes on the very first questions, which subsequently led to a disappointing outcome. Only about 12% passed the theoretical exam," added press officer of the Internal Affairs Directorate Alexander Kazyuchits.
