Police officer saved a diabetic pensioner in Polotsk district
A disturbing call was received by the Polotsk District Department of Internal Affairs last weekend from relatives of an elderly resident of the district center, who went into the forest to pick mushrooms and did not return home by dark. An investigative team, accompanied by Vladimir Suvorov, head of the logistics department of the District Department of Internal Affairs, was dispatched to the scene. Using flares, he searched the forest area and half an hour later found the pensioner in one of the marshy ravines. By this time, the elderly woman was completely exhausted: she saw sparks from the launched flares, but could not get out to the light on her own. Moreover, the situation was complicated by the fact that the woman suffers from diabetes and needed insulin injections every two hours. The police officer arrived in time: he carried the pensioner out of the ravine in his arms, carried her about a kilometer to the car, where the victim received medical assistance.
