Minsk resident Maria Yesman will compete for the "Miss Intercontinental-2009" crown representing Belarus

August 12, Minsk /Zhanna Kotlyarova - BELTA/. Minsk resident Maria Yesman will compete for the "Miss Intercontinental-2009" crown from Belarus. As Alina Provotorova, press secretary of ONT TV channel, told a BELTA correspondent, the jury made this decision after thoroughly studying the photo and video materials of 40 beauties who came to the jury's attention during the casting on July 31 and August 1. For two days, they searched in Minsk for a girl who would represent Belarus at the world-renowned "Miss Intercontinental" contest. Last year, Belarusian Lyubov Yakovina became the second vice-miss and "Miss Intercontinental - Europe". This fact further spurred international beauty connoisseurs towards the idea of holding the next show in Minsk. The most beautiful girls from all over the world will come to Belarus in September. Many countries opted for a simple approach – they decided to delegate the winner of some previous national show to the contest. Belarus, among 35 states, did not shy away from the effort: it held a new casting in search of new faces. Each country determines for itself what a national beauty should be like. There are no strict standards or frameworks. For example, last year, a very small and at the same time very large girl from India participated in the show: with a height of 1.50 m, she weighed 80 kilograms. Over two selection days, the jury reviewed about 300 girls from all corners of the country. All representatives of the fair sex with good external qualities had a chance to showcase themselves. Among the contenders were quite a few finalists of the national beauty contest. Despite their experience, the girls were shy in front of the jury, as if it were the first time in their lives they were walking the runway. The name of the beauty who will walk the runway in the final of the prestigious show has been determined. Minsk resident Maria Yesman will represent Belarus at the international competition. Masha turns 20 on August 19; her height is 177 cm. She is a student at the Faculty of Law of Belarusian State University. She has been professionally engaged in ballroom dancing for 10 years and has won many competitions. She graduated from a music school with a violin major. So, in the autumn, Minsk will turn into the center of world beauty – girls from 60 countries will come to the capital, the most exotic of which is Costa Rica, and the most unexpected is Afghanistan. The "Miss Intercontinental" contest is almost 40 years old, its first winner is long retired, and the passions for beauty are only intensifying. Girls from all over the planet dream of walking such a runway at least once in their lives, not to mention trying on the transferable winner's crown, which features 720 diamonds. By its scale, the contest is among the top five most prestigious. And it is doubly pleasant that this year Minsk will become the meeting place for beauties from many countries. The final show, with the support of ONT TV channel, will be held in the Belarusian capital for the first time. Here, the beauties will not only train and perform but also relax, as ONT TV channel has prepared many surprises for them. The hosts of the final show on September 27 at the Football Manege will be Ekaterina Domankova, Dmitry Koldun, and Georgy Koldun. Guests of the final include Arash, the band Morandi, Lou Bega, and Dima Bilan. -0-
