A temporary accommodation center for refugees operates in Vitebsk, where 22 people are currently staying, including asylum seekers, mainly from Southeast Asian and African countries. "With the help of such a mini-job fair, we want not only to teach people who have faced difficult life circumstances employment skills in a new environment for them, but also, if possible, to help them find legal work," emphasized Galina Zhelanova. Belarusian legislation provides for the possibility of employment, including for persons applying for refugee status, she added.
Representatives of the HR departments of enterprises and organizations of Vitebsk and Vitebsk region will take part in the job fair. These are mainly housing and communal services enterprises, agricultural organizations that have vacancies that do not require high qualifications. Consultants will provide job seekers with advisory assistance. Specialists from the city employment service and the migration service of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Regional Executive Committee will also provide assistance. Refugees who have already successfully used the opportunity to get employed in enterprises of the region will also take part in the event. They will share their experience in resolving various issues of adaptation to new conditions. "Last year, a similar job fair allowed several refugees to find work, so we are counting on a positive outcome for the upcoming event, which will contribute to their faster integration into our society," Galina Zhelanova is confident. During the job fair, the regional organization of the BRCS will hand over stationery and school supplies for refugee children to prepare for the upcoming academic year, she added.
