Mininform: the dissemination of literature that can harm the national interests of the country is unacceptable

It is unacceptable to distribute literature that can harm the national interests of the country.

"Employees of Eksmo, Russia's largest publishing house, have been detained in an extremism case. According to Russian media, the reason for the detention is the promotion of the international LGBT movement, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia, in books published by Popcorn Books. Law enforcement's interest in this publishing house is natural and understandably justified, as out of the list of printed publications containing information messages and/or materials whose distribution can harm the national interests of the Republic of Belarus, works and authors published by the EXMO-AST publishing group, including Popcorn Books, account for more than 50%," the Ministry of Information noted.

According to members of the Republican Commission for Assessment, Symbolism, Attributes, and Information Products, these books are a source of propaganda for non-traditional sexual relations, pornography, violence and cruelty, drug use, as well as the popularization of subcultures that are non-traditional for Belarusian society.

"The Ministry of Information once again appeals to the heads of organizations engaged in the distribution of printed publications, including on the Internet, to independently review the printed publications they sell and independently remove from sale printed publications whose distribution can harm the national interests of our country, as well as to review their list of counterparties and suppliers who allow themselves to publish and distribute literature of this content contrary to moral principles and conscience," the department emphasized. - We remind you that the distribution of such harmful literature in the Republic of Belarus is prohibited."
