Minister of Health Vladimir Karanik congratulated the mother of the first child born in Belarus in the new year
"According to our long-standing tradition, the mother who gives birth to the first baby in the current year is congratulated by the Minister of Health. In total, on New Year's Eve, from 0:00 to 8:00, 41 children were born in different parts of Belarus," Vladimir Karanik noted in a conversation with journalists. "It doesn't matter where the mother of the first child born in the current year is located: we would have come to congratulate her even in the most remote corner. Especially since our mother today had her baby in the first seconds of the new year," the minister added.
According to him, such an event is always deeply symbolic. Today, much is being done to ensure equal access of citizens to medical care, so that regardless of their place of residence, every person has the opportunity to receive specialized medical care within an hour.
"If children are born in the country on New Year's Eve, especially in its first minutes, it indicates that this country has a future and, despite all the holidays, the system is working, people continue to give birth to children and make plans. This is the most wonderful thing! And our task is to support this process and provide quality, accessible medical care anywhere in the country," stated the head of the department.
Uladzimir Karanik shared his family tradition of celebrating New Year with journalists. "New Year is always a family holiday. We also try to celebrate it with our family. This tradition has remained since childhood, so first of all, I want to wish everyone that family values develop, as many children as possible are born and strong families are created, so that we always gather our relatives and friends on New Year, make plans for the future. As long as this happens, we are moving forward," said the minister.
The first "New Year's" baby in the country was Maryana Moroz, born in the first minute of 2020. The girl, weighing 2 kg 850 g and measuring 49 cm, became the first long-awaited child in the family of Anastasia and Yuri. The new parents know for sure that their family will be large: they plan to have at least two more children in the future. "We won't stop at one, we would gladly like more. The main thing is that they are healthy, and who will be next - a girl or a boy - it doesn't matter, you won't love them any less," the young mother is convinced.
On New Year's Eve, three babies were born at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Maternity Hospital. Uladzimir Karanik expressed his warmest wishes to their mothers and presented gifts, including boxes from the "MamaPro" project, which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Belarusian Women's Union.
In the first day of the new year, 145 babies were born in Belarus. The republican campaign to honor newborns and their parents is taking place today in all regions and in Minsk. Representatives of the Ministry of Health, regional executive committees, the social and charitable institution "MamaPRO", and the Belarusian Women's Union are participating in it.
