The Ministry of Industry proposes that OJSC "Vityaz" produce televisions under the "Vityaz" and "Horizont" brands

The Ministry of Industry proposes that Vityaz OJSC produce the entire range of television equipment manufactured in Belarus. This was announced today by the Minister of Industry Dmitry Katerinich, who participated in the meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, reports BELTA correspondent.

According to the minister, the conservatism of the former management of Vityaz OJSC led to the enterprise's inability to promptly reorient itself to market demands: exports were focused solely on the Russian market, ties with developers of dual-use products were lost, and the "Vityaz" brand lost its former popularity.

With the appointment of a new head (at the end of December 2012, Sergey Gunko was approved by the head of state as General Director of Vityaz OJSC. - BELTA note), the Ministry of Industry hopes to stabilize the enterprise's economic situation. The Ministry proposes that the plant produce the entire range of television sets currently manufactured in Belarus, under the "Vityaz" and "Horizont" trademarks, as well as under others. As the minister explained, "Horizont" is currently experiencing a shortage of production facilities and may be focused on producing other types of products.

However, Vityaz OJSC does not intend to limit itself to the production of televisions. It is also planned to produce import-substituting household appliances and products for the military-industrial complex. A business development plan is currently being developed. As Dmitry Katerinich assured, "the enterprise will be supported. Negotiations are underway with banks for the allocation of loans to Vityaz OJSC in the amount of about Br150 billion."

According to the economics committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, in 2012, the production capacities of Vityaz OJSC were utilized at 20%.
