Minsk Dynamo will help the Novopolotsk ice hockey school
October 6, Minsk /Sergei Vishnevsky - BELTA/. HC Dinamo Minsk will help the Novopolotsk ice hockey school, reports a BELTA correspondent.
As the official club website of the capital team informs, today the Chairman of the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus Vladimir Naumov spoke about how it is planned to use the proceeds that the club will receive from Dinamo's first match at the Minsk-Arena, which is opening in November.
"The Novopolotsk children and youth ice hockey school is going through difficult times. HC Dinamo (Minsk) is ready to help it. Vladimir Denisov, a product of this wonderful school, plays for the Minsk team. We will give him the proceeds from the first match so that he can purchase hockey equipment, bring it to Novopolotsk and distribute it to the children," said Vladimir Naumov.
The most famous graduates of the Novopolotsk school are the brothers Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn, who play for the most titled NHL club Montreal Canadiens, which has won the Stanley Cup 24 times. In addition, Novopolotsk has given Belarusian hockey defenseman Sergei Kolosov, who plays in the American Hockey League for Grand Rapids (a farm club of the famous Detroit), as well as forward Vitaly Valuy, who was the first to score 100 goals in the Belarusian championships.
Today, it is hard to find a Belarusian club without a player who was trained at the Novopolotsk school. Among them are one of the best scorers of the current national championship, Alexander Zhidkikh (Gomel), captain of Shakhtar Soligorsk, Sergei Zadelenov, and young defenseman of this team, Dmitry Korobov, leaders of Metallurg Zhlobin, Yuri Eliseenko and Igor Kovalenya, forward of Yunost Minsk, Alexander Kitarov, talented goaltender of Gomel, Igor Brikun, and many others. At the previous World Championship in Switzerland, three graduates of the Novopolotsk school were included in the Belarusian national team roster - defensemen Vladimir Denisov and Dmitry Korobov, as well as goaltender Igor Brikun. -0-
