The Ministry of Sports of Belarus is developing a strategy for the creation of sports facilities in small towns until 2020

November 28, Orsha / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus is developing a strategy for the development of sports facilities in small towns and district centers for the period up to 2020, the First Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism of Belarus Vladimir Aleskevich told a BELTA correspondent. Today he took part in the work of the headquarters for the construction of the Ice Arena in Orsha. Vladimir Aleskevich noted that small towns and district centers of the country lack sports and recreation facilities. For example, about 70 swimming pools alone need to be built in small settlements. In this regard, the need arose to develop a strategy and, based on it, a long-term program for 10 years. To minimize construction costs, the Ministry of Sports proposes a project for a standard modular complex for a settlement with a population of 8-15 thousand people. The complex will include one hall for team sports, a swimming pool with 4 lanes, as well as several small halls for practicing another 8-10 sports. Such sports facilities are designed for approximately 500 visitors. As Vladimir Aleskevich emphasized, this project, like the modules themselves, is of domestic production. The average cost of such a complex is about $3 million, which is several times cheaper than conventional facilities of the same class. The First Deputy Minister recalled that a state program is being implemented in Belarus, according to which 52 ice arenas will be built by the end of 2015. Currently, 18 arenas are operating in the capital, regional centers and large cities, by the end of 2011 there will be 24, including the completion of the Ice Palace in Orsha. -0-
